Gallup: Americans Say Create More Jobs and Reduce Outsourcing

In a new poll by Gallup, Americans say the most important thing that could be done to improve the U.S. economy is the focus on jobs and many suggestions involve the government in one way or the other.

More than one in four Americans – (28%) suggest creating more or better jobs, as the most important thing that could be done to improve the U.S. economy. Another (9%) say they would reduce the outsourcing of jobs.

Americans also suggest decreasing taxes (11%), improving the government (8%) or balancing the government’s budget (7%) as ways to improve the economy.

The Gallup poll suggests that of all but 7% of those interviewed in July were able to come up with a suggestion for improving the economy.

Of those respondents who said “jobs” would improve the U.S. economy, it is not clear exactly how they would go about creating new or better jobs.
