Latest TSA Theft Allegation – Agent Steals $5K From Passenger’s Jacket
Another friendly reminder as to why we should steer from carrying cash when we travel…
According to police, a Transportation Security Administration agent stole $5,000 in cash from a passenger’s jacket as he was going through security at John F. Kennedy International Airport.
The incident follows a recent string of thefts that have embarrassed the agency.
Alexandra Schmid stole the cash from the jacket of a Bangladeshi passenger as it went along the conveyor belt Wednesday evening, said Port Authority spokesman Al Della Fave.
‘In viewing the surveillance video, we observed her removing the currency from the victim’s jacket pocket,’ Mr. Della Fave said, as reported by the Daily Mail.
Schmid was seen wrapping the money in a plastic glove and taking it to the restroom, on the video surveillance.
The money has not since been recovered and police are investigating whether or not Schmid handed the money off to another person in the restroom.
