Waiter Feeds Sake to 2-Year Old Boy
Wasabi Japanese Steakhouse, the restaurant which prides itself on providing a unique dining experience, is making headlines for being just a little too unique. A cook at the Japanese restaurant in Ohio was arrested for allegedly squirting some sake into the mouth of a 2-year-old diner.
The eatery is known for its theatrical presentation in which the cook prepares food in front of its customers and goes around the table offering squirts of sake into the customer’s mouths.
The 2-year-old boy’s mother said that early in the evening the cook jokingly asked if her young son was legal drinking age but didn’t actually give him any sake to drink.
But, when the cook made a second trip down the table for sake squirts, the cook asked the boy if he was 21 and when the boy replied “yes,” the cook “squirted a mouthful of sake into his mouth,” said the boys mother.
The 2-year-old immediately started crying and complained about a burning sensation in his mouth.
Witnesses reportedly say that the cook gathered his stuff and attempted to make an exit.
The boy’s parents took their son to a local police station. Police then paid a visit to the restaurant where they confirmed the story with witnesses, reports the Consumerist.
The cook has been charged with one count of furnishing intoxicating liquor to a minor, a misdemeanor punishable by as many as six months in jail.
