Thousands of Job Seekers Attend Nissan Job Fair in Tennessee

Almost 4,000 people showed up at Murfreesboro job fair on Wednesday, with hopes of landing one of the 1,100 jobs available at Nissan’s Smyrna plant, reported News Channel 5.

Job seekers started showing up at 4 a.m., and waited to be interviewed, according to organizers.

“I’ve been here too long, too long,” said job seeker Evelyn Alajemba.  “Too long for me, but you know, when you’re waiting on something like this, it’s worth the wait.”

A spokesman for the Tennessee Department of Labor said that large crowds are typically expected but they were still alarmed by the number of applicants Wednesday.

The job fair, which was supposed to run from 9 a.m. till 2 p.m. was extended as interviewers agreed to stay as long as it would take to interview all the applicants.

The last applicant in line finished his interview at about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
