Service Employees International Union Joins Occupy LA Protest

The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and United Long Term Care Workers, California’s largest union, joined the Occupy LA Protest Wednesday, with the ultimate goal of supporting Occupy LA’s demands and the need to pass the America’s Jobs Act.

“Occupy LA provides the stage to bring together the various sectors of society that has serious issues to deal with,” said Juan Jose Gutierrez of the Full Rights for Immigration Coalition, as reported by NBC LA. “I think it also provides an opportunity for all of us to realize in the end we are all in this together.”

The SEIU also strongly supports the Work That Needs Doing project, which is designed to put America back to work by repairing our infrastructure and meeting our education, healthcare, and clean energy needs.

According to the Work That Needs Doing project, passing the America’s Jobs Act is vital to the creation of jobs. Furthermore, creating jobs to boost our economy in the short term will ultimately improve our infrastructure, efficiency, and global competitiveness in the long run.
