Mugs ‘N Jugs Waitress Scams Bad Tippers
Kathryn Shana’e Perez, a 25 year old waitress along with two accomplices working for Mugs ‘N Jugs in New Port Richey, Fla., took it upon herself to punish restaurant patrons who failed to tip adequately by scamming them.
Perez and her accomplices have been arrested as part of an investigation into allegations of credit card skimming at the local restaurant in Florida.
Perez allegedly used a hand-sized electronic skimming device, obtained from her 25-year-old cousin Brandon Quillen,to scan customers’ credit cards without their knowledge or consent. The information was then used by Quillen to access personal financial information and account numbers, which he in turn manufactured fake credit cards with. Quillen then gave the fraudulent credit cards to his ex-girlfriend, 22-year-old Rebecca Pixton, who used them to buy more than $5,000 worth of stuff from Radio Shack and Walmart, according to the NYDailynews.com
Pasco County sheriff’s office has charged the waitress at Mugs ‘N Jugs with criminal use of personal identification information, and charged the waitress’ known associates with scheming to defraud, possession of a card scanning device and fraudulent use of credit cards.
One victim, Denise Remington, said the scammers racked up more than $3,000 in fraudulent charge on her credit card. In a statement, Remington said of Perez “She couldn’t look you in the face when she waited on you. She didn’t greet you. She took a long time to come back to the table. She didn’t say thank you,” she said.
Perez and her accomplices all face multiple charges, including fraudulent use of a credit card.
